Traversing the "usual" health care system path is often frustrating and in the end a Band-Aid approach to care....and not necessarily a care to wellness. It is necessary, especially with acute illness, but many of us have symptoms that are described as "aging" issues. Joint pain, digestive issues, weight gain, diabetes/pre-diabetes (whatever the heck that is) and the list goes on. The more we sit, the more we sit. This blog will become more of a journal in due time.
One day one of my students came to me with a "thank you" card for teaching basic health assessment skills. She said, "I love how you use your experiences and stories to teach. The use of self as a teaching tool is very effective." I guess I never really thought about that very much, but my stories have always been the way that I reflected my learning in every aspect of my life.
In no way do I want to make this all about myself, like I invented life , and the right road to follow. I know that I have more to give and so I am back on the path to help others and to help myself as I age. I do not want to grow old, I simply want to live well....and you know what? I want you to live well too!
Follow me on the trail off the beaten path as I shed light on things that may make a difference to you in your life....or at least give you a story for the day. You are welcome to comment and give feedback and overall just join together for meaningful conversation. We need that, and I welcome that.
